Alex, I am already sitting, but thanks for the warning. .4S is short for "Society for the Social Studies of Science" (http://www.4sonline.org/); Jan-Hendrik and I are hosting two sessions at this academic conference on the topic of states, state infrastructure, and conceptualizations of both. In this area of "science and technology studies" (STS) the notion of infrastructure seems to be attracting some renewed attention and, because of the odd tradition and trajectories of STS and its many concepts, is being approached in some fairly novel ways. This was what we were referring to earlier as something to add to the wikipedia page.
