says a lot about our country (and its future) when we can’t even get real numbers for oversight and budget planning on such a major area of expenditures.
When we have conversations about planning futures for organizations in this kind of black-box environment what does it mean to make informed choices?

Just talking about what happens with spending budgets when defense spending is carefully monitored and, in some cases, nearly prohibited (e.g., Germany just after WWII), … leads to different outcomes, that’s for sure.

No doubt that military families must be protected. Greater oversight on defense spending makes a lot of sense too.

the jokes on us and the military families who won’t get their living conditions raised to safe and humane levels if Trump can steal the military construction budget (tho must be noted that the brass haven’t been spending this money to care for the families to date), if only there was some actual accounting of the defense budget available for democratic oversight…
