The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has a relatively new project called “Game Changers,” which (purportedly) captures and shares with viewers “successful solutions across the major infrastructure sectors to identify the most innovative #GameChangers. Imagine what more we could do if we seize the opportunity to replicate these engineering innovations.”
Apparently, you can apply for local innovative infrastructure solutions to be part of the project (or, conceivably, the website). For example, the website showcases a project in Washington DC that energizes waste water and another in Washington state to reduce reliance on levees and design into nature more “natural” floodplain environments (love the ironies there — mangle, anyone?).
I suppose the most discouraging part of all this is: how often does the average American stumble across an ASCE website?
